The Three Lakes Genealogical
Society provides meetings and programs of genealogical
interest as well as instruction in genealogical
procedures. We also collect, preserve and share
genealogical data found in the Three Lakes, Oneida
County, Wisconsin area. We are an ambitious genealogy society. Follow the links to the left to learn more about our society's several projects: Ask Your Local TLGS Genealogist – help with your genealogy project with help from our membership. Our member waits for your drop-in in the Local History Room of the Demmer Library. There is a Beginning Genealogy Class that helps people who are unsure of how to start the process. We have a Genealogy Book Club for readers of genealogy related books. Cemeteries Project – our membership updates the Find a Grave information for the Three Lakes Cemetery. The DNA page is a collection of information to help understand the new genealogy tool of DNA. Obituaries – from the previous year and older, image copies of the obituaries that were printed in the Vilas County News Review/The Three Lakes News; for 2021 and newer, links to the newspaper web obituary are provided. Oral History – recordings, transcripts, and memorabilia of Three Lakes people remembering the old days. You can add your story to our files. Contact us, or just send us an audio file or text file, or even a handwritten story. We are Three Lakes – a page that covers the genealogy and local history of Three Lakes. Our meetings include a business meeting, a program of interest, and "helping each other" time. We discuss members’ genealogical successes and share ideas to help solve our members’ brick walls. Check the Vilas County News Review/Three Lakes News released on the third week of the month for details of the meeting on the following Monday. Beginning and experienced researchers are welcome to attend our meetings. The society meets the fourth Monday of the month, January – October, except for special events. We meet at 1 pm in the lower level of the Demmer Memorial Library in Three Lakes. Tentative Schedule Field trips to the Area Research Center in Ashland, Wisconsin and to the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison, Wisconsin are being planned; details will be announced later.
