Franklin Burdette Lane
Frank B. Lane, 82, of Santa Maria, died Aug. 14, 2004, after a long illness. He was born May 20, 1922, in Beloit, Wis., to Frank G. Lane and Marie Roe Lane.
Frank moved with his family to California, when he was nine years old. He grew up in Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. During World War II, he was employed by Lockheed in Burbank. After the war, he was involved with automobile sales and served numerous well-known movie stars, as a franchise owner-operator of Union and Chevron stations.
In 1949, he married Mildred Locke Lane. They moved with their two children, Patricia S. Lane and Daniel B. Lane, to Santa Maria in 1966. He was self-employed in Frank B. Lane Automotive Supplies for many years until retirement in 1985.
Frank was a devoted father and loving husband. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and water skiing. His happiest moments were spent with his family and friends at the lakes in Big Bear, Nacimento and San Antonio. He also enjoyed taking his "buddies" hunting in King City.
He is survived by his wife, Millie, of 55 years; his daughter, Patricia of Santa Maria; his son, Daniel and his wife, Laureen of Nevada City; five grandchildren, Melissa Galloway, Michael Galloway, Leslie Ann Lane, Patrick Lane and Sean Lane; also one brother, William R. Lane of Camarillo.
Interment will be at sea, off the coast of Santa Barbara County.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired, remembrances may be made to Marian Hospital Cancer Fund, Palliative Care or Alzheimer's Association. His family wishes to thank everyone at Marian Medical Center, Marian West, and Villa Maria Care Center for their fine care and compassion.
