- Elaine Louise Pitlik, age 93, a resident of
Sugar Camp for the past 75 years, died
peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 28,
2016.
She was born July 27, 1922, in Haugen, to
parents Edward and Alma (Roseth) Wick. She
was raised in Rice Lake. Elaine married
Clarence Pitlik on Oct. 11, 1941. Soon after
Clarence and Elaine were married, war was
declared. While Clarence served his country,
Elaine spent summers working at Pitlik's
Resort in Sugar Camp and winters with her
parents in Rice Lake. She continued to work
at the resort for many years. In the
meantime, her husband and her brother, Ed
Wick, started a small business that became
known as Pitlik & Wick Road Contractors.
Elaine was the bookkeeper for over 20 years.
She continued in supportive roles for the
company into her 90s. Elaine loved the people
of Sugar Camp and was happy to be at home
with many family members always nearby.
Elaine was a member of Christ Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Eagle River for many
years.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband
Clarence and brother Ed Wick.
She is survived by her children: Kent
(Marsha) Pitlik, Jackie (Bill) Anderson, both of
Sugar Camp; Don (Mary Pat McGinnis) Pitlik
of Falcon Heights, Minn.; 11 grandchildren:
Gary Pitlik, Brian (Mary) Pitlik, Julie (Brian)
Stefonik, Brad (Kristi) Pitlik, Carolyn
(George) Lurvey, Michelle (Matt) Madderom,
Jill (Dwayne) Walkowski, and Jeff (Ashley)
Anderson, all of Sugar Camp; Wendy (Scott)
Plehn of Sheboygan, Rena (Steven) Van
Wasshenova of Denver, Colo. and Matt Pitlik
of Minneapolis; 24 greatgrandchildren:
Ben,
Austin, Taylor, Kelvin, Carter, Sutton, Ainsley,
and Miles Pitlik, Karlie, Brooke, and Grace
Stefonik, Carson and Kinsey Plehn, Sydney,
Ellie and Levi Lurvey, Axel and Bode
Madderom, Cassandra, Skyler, Brock and Trevin Walkowski and Elsey and Kamryn Anderson
