  Eugene “Gene” Step, age 99, a life long resident of Three Lakes passed away on December 16th. He was born December 2nd, 1919 to his parents Alex and Mary Stepezyski. Gene was a World War II Veteran who served in the US Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Three Lakes American Legion 431, VFW and 40 and 8. Gene also served the community as a member of the Three Lakes Fire Department for 43 years. He was very active in Three Lakes and also a member of the Historical Society. Gene played in the Rhinelander Northwoods Community Band as well as other bands and groups. He was a long time insurance agent and very fond of golfing and horizontal engineering. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Irene, Helen and Florence; brothers: Edmund and Leo. He is survived by his niece Mary (Mitch) Flannery of Three Lakes; nephew Michael (Bonnie) Scanlon of Three Lakes and many other nieces and nephews.
