- Rose Mary Stefonek, age 92, decided to celebrate her birthday in heaven with Jesus this year. She died on December 15, 2007 after a very brief illness and would have been 93 on Christmas Day.
She was born December 25, 1914 in Hatley, WI the daughter of Frank and Amelia (Dallman) Lorbetske.
Rose married Peter John Stefonek on September 7, 1936. Rose was an active member of St. Kunegunda's Catholic Church for most of her life. In her leisure, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting, and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her sons; Randy (Joy) and Vern Stefonek, two daughters; Celeste (Gerald) Blattler and Noreen (Ronald) Catherson, a brother, Raymond Lorbetske, three sisters; Eleanor Eckert, Emmy Pigeon, and Evelyn Wendorf, grandsons; Bradley (Debra), Glen, and Stuart Blattler, Kenneth, Thomas (Jaime), James (Michelle), and Samuel (Nancy) Catherson, granddaughters; Laura Blattler Yardley, Michelle (Tom) Maloney, Tory (Mike) Finney, Tracy (Joel) Gay, and Kristen (Todd) Chrisler, great-granddaughters; Lindsay Maloney, Ashlyn and Alyssa Finney, Taylor Chrisler, and Jazmine, Casandra, Alysha, Krystina, and RyLee Catherson; great-grandsons; Christopher Wilkins, Joshua Finney, and James, David, and Austyn Catherson, many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, in 1959, three brothers; Carl, Anton, and Harry Lorbetske; eight sisters; Mary Lorbetske, Anne Lorbetske, Bertha DeLonay, Clara Nehring, Lucille DeLonay, Pauline Kunda, Matilda Philipp, and Earlyne Connolly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Kunegunda of Poland Catholic Church in Sugar Camp with Father Brendan Kunda officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Kunegunda Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 P.M. Wednesday evening at the Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home, with a parish prayer service to be conducted at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday morning.
