    Birth:
Suggested edit: Mrs. Mary E. Sumpter, wife of J.A. Sumpter, the well-known restaurant proprietor on Jefferson Street, passed away at her home, 324 Field Street, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Although she had been ill, her death came very unexpectedly, and it was a great shock to her family and friends. for the past few years Mrs. Sumpter had been afflicted with heart trouble and in the past few weeks had been growing steadily worse, although it was not realized that the end was so near. She took a sudden attack and died almost instantly. Mrs. Sumpter had lived here for a number of years, the family having resided in apartments over the restaurant but in later years at their present residence. Besides her husband the deceased leaves three children. Miss Caroline Sumpter, a member of the faculty of the Fairview high school; James E. Sumpter, a student at the Carnegie technical school in Pittsburgh and Miss Edith Sumpter. Mrs. Sumpter was a woman of lovely Christian character, deeply devoted to her home and family and was well liked by her neighbors and friends. The break in the family circle comes as a deep blow and much sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 3:30 with services at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery by Undertaker Musgrave & Son. This morning at 8 o'clock mass will be offered at the church for the repose of the soul of the departed woman. (Day of death, Friday was October 21, 1921; burial, Sunday, was October 23.)
