John Bonkowski, 73, of 510 3rd Ave., S., Onalaska, died in a La Crosse hospital Friday afternoon, May 2, following a short illness. He was born Feb. 8, 1896, in Warsaw, Poland.
He is survived by his widow, Margery; two sons, Thadeus of Santa Anna, Calif., and Lucian of Three Lakes; one daughter, Mrs. Clement (Harriet) Wallenkamp of Three Lakes; several grandchildren; two stepsons, Robert Bonner and Laverne Bonner, both of Pensacola, Fla.; and three stepdaughters, Mrs. Fred (Blanche) Voss of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Richard (Leona) Hauser of R. 2, Onalaska, and Mrs. Francis (Arlene) Harter of La Crosse.
Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. in the Fossum Funeral Home in Onalaska. Rev. J. Charles Mellring will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday.
John married Tryczak, Lucy before 1920. Lucy (daughter of Tryczak, Otto and Szubelewska, Josepha) was born in 1898 in Wisconsin, USA; died in in Unknown. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
