    Notes:

Clark Stoneking was a bit of an adventurer. He was born in Warrensburg, MO. At some point his family moved to Kansas City, MO. (His father died there in 1920.)

Clark served in the Army in WWI and fought in the Battle of the Argonne Forest. The 1920 Census shows him living with his brother and working as a street car conductor. That may have been when he met his future wife. (Cecile's 1st husband was also a Kansas City street car conductor.)

Between 1920 and 1924 he moved to Three Lakes, WI, to join his brother-in-law, Frank Cheetum, in the business of raising foxes. He carried on a correspondence with Cecile and eventually proposed via mail. She and her daughter joined him in 1925 and Clark & Cecile were married in Rhinelander, WI. They started out living in a log cabin on the shore of Medicine Lake. The fox farm was on the same property.

When the Great Depression hit in the 1930's, the bottom fell out of the fox market. Clark got rid of his foxes, converted the fox-raising building into a house, and began renting out the original log cabin. He eventually added 2 smaller rental cabins. Along with that he did a lot of hunting, drove a school bus and a mail route, and did whatever else he could to support his family. By the time he died in 1960 he & Cecile had 6 more children.

2 of his children have died: Carol (2011), and Harry (1996). Also his step-daughter, Velma (1990).
