Arthur J. Aman, 88, born in Chicago on May 12, 1928 and a 39 year resident of Arlington Heights, passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 24, 2016. Arthur grew up in the Ravenswood area of Chicago, attended McPherson Elementary and Amundsen High School. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1953. He served in the U.S Army and was a member of the Federal Post of the American Legion for many years. Arthur began his career at the legendary City News Bureau of Chicago in 1953 and in subsequent years worked for the Chicago Tribune, United Press, and Chicago's American. He also worked on a joint Chicago Daily News and WBBM-TV investigation of city slumlords. He shifted careers to public relations working for Buchen Advertising and later became a sales representative for Farm Progress Publications. After retirement, he remained active in journalism and was Secretary of the Chicago Newspaper Reporters Association. He was the son of late Julia and Albert Aman, who was the former Bureau Chief of the Chicago Office, U. S. Treasury Narcotics Division. Arthur is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn; daughters Jean (Joseph) Remez, and Jane Aman; grandchildren, Kailee and Tyler Remez. From a previous marriage, he is survived by his son, Jack Aman; daughter, Ellen Baird; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Richard Aman and twin Albert Aman. He was also a life-long summer resident of Sugar Camp, Wisconsin. He loved spending his time at his home on Dam Lake. Visitation Thursday 3 pm to 8 pm at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows. Funeral Friday 10:30 am from chapel to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, Arlington Heights, Mass 11 am.
