Perhaps born in the Palatine region of Germany; removed from Oley twp, Philadelphia Co, PA after selling the 100 acre homestead inherited from his father, to Shenandoah Co, VA at some time between 1750-1760; purchased 406 acres of land in 1760 lying on both sides of Holmans creek directly east from Moores store near Forestville; had a grist mill there; godparents at baptisms in the Old Pine (now Solomon's) Lutheran church, Mill Creek, VA in 1784 and 1792; Will dated 2 Jan 1801 and proved 11 Mar 1805 in Shenandoah Co; could not write.
