OLD BUSINESS: Community Outreach: Everyone agreed the open house went well. How else can we reach out to the community? A discussion ensued. Suggested ideas are: Students - 4th through 8th grade should be approached. - A field trip would be a good idea. - Having a class at the school. - Having a club for the kids at the school. - Keep in mind that kids would rather be connected with those closer to them and not go back into the ancient past. - Learning to use library resources. Student and adult approaches should be kept separate. - Making a short film to be used to promote genealogy via a flash drive which could be used by the public. It should focus more on local and regional genealogical and historical interests. It should be no longer than 7 minutes. Make this a group project. Committee to plan this should be organized in January. Membership dues are due today, $15. NEW BUSINESS: The Annual Christmas Luncheon is set for Monday, December 9th from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Demmer Library in the Maple Room, on the lower level. Our $50 gift card was given to the luncheon committee to purchase things they might need. This year lunch will not be the standard ham and rolls. Each member is asked to bring a dish to share which is not a desert. NO DESERTS PLEASE! Instead please bring 1 dozen cookies to share. Also: Member should bring an ethnic dish from your nationality, along with the recipe for this dish. Gift Exchange: Each person who attends should bring a White Elephant gift, or, something valued at $5.00 or less. Three Lakes Chamber Memories of Three Lakes: Collette from the Chamber was contacted regarding a scan day for old photos. Scan and Post was discussed. It was explained that this could be a future community service project. Keep in mind to do another ÒScan Day" in the year 2020 for an organization in the community. Old Photo ID gallery: It was suggested that maybe (5) old photo could be put up in the library somewhere and invite the public in to possibly identify the individuals. ÒThe strangers in the box" PROGRAMS Arlene Faeth (possibly in June) will do ÔHow to Tell your Story and actually write itÕ DNA Results program was suggested. Tree Leaves newsletter was discussed. It was suggested that maybe we could ask Erica to put some of the TLGS news into the Library Newsletter - Perhaps this would give more outreach to the community.
