Three Lakes Genealogical Society August 28, 2017 Members present: Marge Behling, June McDuffy, Joyce Mogytych, Irene Farkas, Charlene Roberts, Nancy Brewster, Nancy Bailey, Robert Bailey, Areleen Faith, Les Anderson, Marie Byatt, Noreen Rossa. Guests present: Tom Doberstein, Joan Ross The meeting was called to order by Vice President Nancy Brewster at 1:04 p.m. The minutes from the July 24, 2017 meeting were approved and accepted. Treasurers Report: Treasurer Robert Bailey reported that there was no activity. Old Business: ELECTION OF NEW OFFICERS The slate of officers presented by the nominating committee is: Charlene Roberts for Vice President Joyce Mogytych for Treasurer We received no further nominations from the floor nor the membership. A motion was made to elect the slate of proposed new officers as presented. The motion was seconded. A vote taken. It was Unanimously Agreed and A Approved. NEW OFFICERS FOR THREE LAKES GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY For the year September 2017 thru September 2018 are as follows: Debby Selman President Charlene Roberts Vice President Joyce Mogytych Treasurer Maureen Brand Secretary (winter) Irene Farkas Secretary (summer) That Nancy Brewster should remain the ÒconstantÓ signature of the treasury was approved by all present. All agreed that the Post Office Box has two keys, held in the possession of the Vice President and the Treasurer. All agreed to ask Noreen Rossa to continue as the Sunshine person. NEW BUSINESS: Nancy Brewster reported that the book The Ultimate Search Book: US Adoption, Genealogy & Other Search Secrets, by Lori Carangelo was received by the library. A memorial book plate in memory of Bob Killick will be added. A thank you letter from Demmer Library was also received for this donation. OPEN HOUSE Our open house will be September 23, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Marie Byatt agreed to be the Chairperson. Nancy Brewster agreed to be her assistant. Irene Farkas will prepare the posters. Maureen Brand, Charlene Roberts, and June McDuffy will distribute the posters around the community and surrounding communities. Les Anderson will see that the posters get to the schools; Three Lakes and Sugar Camp. Charlene Roberts asked about ÒGetting StartedÓ books. Nancy Brewster assured her there are enough books available. Nancy Brewster reminded us that microfilm will no longer be available through the Family History Center as of the end of this month, September 2017. All microfilm on loan will become permanent. Each member was encouraged to bring a snack to the open house. Bob Bailey reminded us that membership dues are due in September. He will send out a notice. Annual dues continue to be $15.00. Marie Byatt reported that she enjoyed very much the annual International German Genealogy Partnership conference in Minneapolis, MN. She was given an audio recording of the speakers at this conference as a gift and is willing to share it with the group for listening. She showed us a book on maps and suggested that it would be a good addition to our library. All members present introduced themselves and mentioned their personal genealogy projects. Guest, Joan Ross said she was interested in finding out more about her great grandfather. She was offered help after the meeting to help her get started.
