Three Lakes Genealogical Society Meeting Minutes July 25, 2016 Members Present: Nancy Brewster, Marie Byatt, Irene Farkas, Sue Henderson, Bob Killick, Joyce Mogytych, Charlene Roberts, Noreen Rossa & Debby Selman The meeting was called to order by Nancy Brewster, Vice President, at 1 PM. June 26 Meeting Minutes Minutes were reviewed and it was noted that Marie Byatt was present at last meeting, but not listed. Otherwise minutes were approved TreasurerÕs Report was presented by Bob Bailey OLD BUSINESS: Nominating Committee: Irene Farkas has agreed to handle nominations for officers this year. Positions open are President and Secretary. Vice-President & Treasurer have agreed to continue for 1 year. This year the President & Secretary positions would be elected for 2 years to accommodate changes that may change with bylaws that will be reviewed in August, and voted on in SeptemberÕs meeting. Genealogy Room Scanner: Scanner at Library has been ordered. Findagrave.com project: Debby reported various websites contain comments from people complaining about other issues with findagrave.com, such as adding obituaries and other information beyond what we post. Annually Debby has been adding name, date of birth, date of death , & plot for internments at the Three Lakes Cemetery, representing TLGS. It has been recently updated for 2015. She also adds pictures of headstones if none has been added. Since we do not add obituaries or extraneous personal info, we will support our adopted procedure as Debby described. The thumb drive containing the TLGS Findagrave.com information will be stored by the Library(and Debby maintains a copy). Marie Byatt will set up a drop box account for an additional storage site of the data we have on findagrave.com regarding the Three Lakes Cemetery. Bylaws Committee: Committee met and suggested major changes were not necessary except in area of officer terms. It was suggested having President/Secretary be elected in even years and Treasurer/Vice-President in odd years. Nominating Committee was changed to have past President serve as nominating committee chair. Discussion on limit of term for 1 or 2 terms(term=2years.) Group decided officers should not serve consecutive terms in the same position. CommitteeÕs revisions will be updated to reflect suggestions and will be presented for further review at the August meeting, to be voted on in September. By-Laws had item re: Lifetime Membership under type of membership with no explanation. What should be done with this? Decided it makes more sense to remove that language. NEW BUSINESS: Upcoming Programs On August 22, 2016 Marie Byatt will present a program, ÒSetting up your own website.Ó Erica Brewster has not yet set a date for the program on Irish Research which she offered to facilitate. Brick Walls and other Genealogical tidbits. Members shared their current situations and areas of research. One concern to focus on in the future is how do we make sure members expertise is shared so all members could benefit from each otherÕs expertise? Meeting was adjourned. Kendra D.: I am very sorry about this. I believe what is happening, is when you first create the photo book, a pop up comes up that says "add photos". Do not click this. If you click this, you are letting it arrange the photos for you. You will need to make a new photo book and make sure to click "x" when this pops up. noreen rossa: The album is created, but can not get back into it to edit it. Kendra D.: But did you make the photo book or it was made for you when you first opened it? noreen rossa: Uploaded photos to a folder and moved to album.I believe it automatically added it. Kendra D.: If you choose accidentally for the photos to be added to the photo book for you, it may not let you edit them, which is why I suggested to open a new photo book to make the photo book yourselves.
