Three Lakes Genealogical Society Minutes 27 April 2015 Members present: Les Anderson, Roger Blocks, Maureen Brand, Nancy Brewster, Irene Farkas, Donna Mather, June McDuffie and Charlene Roberts. President Roger Blocks called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM. Inasmuch as the Secretary and Treasurer were both excused from this meeting and there was no activity in the financial account and the SecretaryÕs minutes for March had been circulated for comment and there being no intent to hold a business meeting without the two aforesaid invaluable board members, the President asked that the business of the Society be postponed until May and that all formality be dispensed with. The business meeting of the Three Lakes Genealogical Society was postponed until May 18th 2015 by unanimous voice vote at 3:32 PM. The genealogical program was presented by Dr Steven Yahr, Director of the Fab Lab at Three Lakes School District. Dr Yahr described a trip to Yellowstone taken in 1922 and its many challenges. Then, he described the advent of MITÕs Fab Lab concept as implemented K through 12th grades in Three Lakes as a way to prepare todayÕs student in the areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) with a dose of A for Art and design. The program drew a total of 22 to 24 persons including a considerable number of member spouses: notably Jack Brand, Tony Farkas, Bob Mather, and John Roberts. Based on the appreciative applause, smiles of satisfaction and comments, the meeting was considered a major educational plus for both the attendees and the students of Three Lakes School District.
