Minutes of Three Lakes Genealogical Society

September 26, 2011  1 PM

Members present:  Maureen Brand, Charlene Roberts, Nancy Bailey, Nancy Brewster, Judy Block, Marilyn Geismann, Sheila Hittman, Robert Killick, Donna Mather, Noreen Rossa, Debby Selman, Rita Strathmann, Sandy Theisen.

Guests:  Carol Stillwell

Vice- President Donna Mather called the meeting to order.  

Maureen Brand  read  Minutes for the August 25, 2011 meeting and they were  approved. 

Treasurer,  Sandy Thiesen reported.  The report was accepted.

Old Business:
1. The date of the upcoming October Lockin will be changed as Nancy is not available.  The new date is 2PM on Saturday, October 29th, at the Demmer Library

2. The Christmas Party has been set as a luncheon potluck on December 12th.

3. Roger Block & Mary Hitchkock are planning a trip to the Fort Wayne County Geneaology Library. See them if you are interested in joining the excursion.

4. Charlene Roberts distributed copies of her GEDCOM presentation to any interested parties.  She said she would also welcome contributions about Brick Walls or Successes!

5. The TLGS has not received and queries in the last month.  Nancy Brewster said the library has had a lot of inquiries over the summer, primarily about area resorts.

New Business:
1. After askinf for any further nominations for officers and hearing none, a motion was made and seconded to accept the slate of officers to serve in 2011-2012:  Debby Selman, President,  Donna Mather, V-P, Sandy Theisen, Treasurer, Maureen Brand(winter)/Noreen Rossa(summer) Secretary.

2. Discussion of Successes, Brick Walls brought up the following:
a. Keep checking on the Family Search website for new additions to it, things being added weekly.
b. Charlene mentioned that she recently got an email that talked about the Irish Catholic Church having church records going online, initially in the Dublin area.

Charlene made a motion and it was seconded to adjourn the business meeting.

Nancy Brewster presented a program:  Using Internet Resources in Your Genealogy Work

A handout of websites was distributed.

FYI:  To search in another country through Google.com, just enter www.//google.pl for Poland, www.google.de for Germany & etc. It it is in a foreign language look for British or American flag symbol.
