Minutes of the Three Lakes Genealogical Society June 28, 2010 Present: Maureen Brand, Pat Frank, Sheila Hittman, Mary Hitchcock, Ann Bruckmoser, Charlene Roberts, Irene Farkas, , Roger Blocks, Nancy Brewster, Lorene Schertzl, Debby Selman, Marie Byatt, Judi Grove, Karen Cottingham, Shirley Blicharz, Noreen Rossa. Guests: Carol Patterson, Carol Stillwell, Wally Mercer. President Charlene Roberts called meeting to order and welcomed guests. The May 24, 2010, meeting minutes were reviewed and approved. Ann Bruckmoser, Treasurer, Report was approved and seconded. New/Old Business: 1. Upcoming programs: * Saturday, July 10, Cemetery Walk - Mary Hitchcock led the discussion. The original group of 11 presenters is now 9. Contact Pat Frank if you have clipboards she can use. Contact Mary if you have costume needs. If you use a costume from the theater, please get it back by specified time. Parking staff should be there about 9am. Rehearsal will be Friday, July 9th at cemetery. More volunteers for the event are welcome, so feel free to come and help. * July 26: Guest Adam Baronne, is a special guest from Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, IN. His presentation, ÒThe Allen County Public LibraryÕs Genealogy Bonanza,Ó will be a unique opportunity for participants here in the Northwoods. Posters have been put up and flyers sent to Three Lakes Banks, Demmer Library, the laundromat, Bakers, Pick & Save, and have sent flyers to surrounding genealogical societies including the Rhinelander Public Library. Judi Grove sent out an initial news release and will send a follow-up to the paper. Additional releases/flyers will be sent out to WXPR, Chamber of Commerce & be distributed during Concerts in the Park. Charlene asked everyone who plans to attend the event to sign up for the presentation. Since Adam is not charging for his presentation, a motion was made and seconded that an expenditure of $54 be made to purchase a $50 bank gift card. * Thursday, August 26th, 6:30 PM, at Demmer Library. Nancy Brewster will present ÒHow to Use the FHL Catalog.Ó * Sept. 27: Installation of New Officers ÐStill need nominations for President, V-P and Treasurer. Please get names to the Committee. Mary Hitchcock volunteered to do the audit of the TLGS finances, prior to installation of officers. 2. Most of the meetings will remain at Reiter Center through next spring. Since Joyce Schultz is retiring from her position at the Center and has been very helpful to the TLGS over the years, a motion was made and seconded to approve a $100 check & card to be given to her from the group in acknowledgment of her retirement. 3. The TLGS Ethnic Christmas Party will be held at the Reiter Center on December 13th. Mark your calendars now! 4. Karen Cottingham mentioned her husband has been contacted by a nephew of Dan Gagen, founder of Gagen, WI (known as Three Lakes WI since early 1900s). The nephew, who lives in Norfolk, England, is coming to the US in October to see where his relative, Dan Gagen settled. Contacts have been made with area museums that contain information on Dan Gagen so he could visit, and other plans are being made for a reception. Contact Karen for further information/involvement.
