Three Lakes Genealogical Society April 26, 2010 President Charlene Roberts called the meeting to order. Ten members present. The minutes were read by Maureen Brand and approved. Ann Bruckmoser reported treasurer's report.Ê Approved by Nancy Brewster. The traditional May trip to Madison has been changed to June.Ê Debby Sellman and Michelle Gobert have plans to travel to Madison in June, and anyone interested in making this research trip should contact them soon.ÊÊ Mary Hitchcock reported that she has ten portrayers for the Cemetery Walk.Ê She will be finalizing the plans at the May 24 meeting at the Reiter Center at 1pm.Ê Members should make an effort to attend this meeting to show your support for this event. We will be selecting new officers for 2010-2011.Ê The offices are:Ê President, Vice-President, and Treasurer.Ê A Nominating Committee was formed consisting of Nancy Brewster, Maureen Brand and Bob Killick.Ê Please contact a committee member to say that you would like to become an officer for the coming year! Charlene Roberts had two queries to our website in the past month.Ê Char did quite a bit of look-up and research for those making inquiries. Nancy Brewster asked that the minutes be emailed, and it was agreed that they would be. Is anyone reading the New England Genealogical Register Magazine?Ê Is anyone using the website?ÊÊ When the subscription has ended, we may reconsider subscribing if there is little usage. Nancy Brewster passed out a sheet explaining how to order books onlineÊthrough our Êlibrary. Charlene Roberts asked for suggestions for programs and received one reply from Debby Sellman for information about Immigration and Naturalization. At the meeting, more suggestions were presented.Ê The topicsÊof interestÊwere:Ê what is gedcom and how to use it, how to identify numbers on websites to be able to order microfilm from LDS, how to use the Reader, finding information at a cemetery, and how to transfer information from one software program to another. Pat Frank moved to adjourn the meeting and Bob Killick seconded the motion. Respectfully submitted, Maureen Brand Charlene Roberts prepared an informative program which included a list of helpful Immigration and Naturalization websites, a handout detailing the Advanced Search capabilities of the index to the Ellis Island data base,ÊÊexplanationsÊon the use of Castle Garden, examples of and explanations of the various Naturalization forms from 1795-1941, and Illinois Naturalization Record Tips. Each member left the meeting more informed and inspired to continue with their research. Ê
